Electronics : HP Deskjet 6940 Color Inkjet PrinterRating: - Deserves the creditI just wanted to reinforce the comments left by other purchasers and satisfied owners of this printer. I received the printer yesterday and installed it on arrival on a Vista desktop and XP laptop in no time - around 10 mins each. One of the main reasons that I went for this printer was the ability to plug it into my wireless router (ethernet cable to connect the printer to the router is supplied), and then print from my laptop without having to be connected by wires, and was one of a few printers that I could find in this price range that had this connectivity option. Can be connected by USB also (cable not supplied) which I didn't see in the Amazon details. Initial print results look impressive, and its as solid as a previous Epson 890 which it is replacing. Deserves the 5 stars. Rating: - Excellent ProductIf you need a network printer that is easy to set up then this is it. Just plug in the supplied ethernet cable into the printer and into your network router or hub/switch, install the software from CD and 10 minutes later you are up and running. If you have more than one PC on your network all you need to do is install the software onto each PC and job done, I set up 4 PCs in about half an hour with no problems. Rating: - HP Deskjet 6940 Color Inkjet PrinterAfter years of EPSON inkjet printers I finally made the switch to HP and am really pleased with this printer. Rated as follows; Instructions: Excellent (only needed the 'poster') Installation: Excellent (easy installation - I went for the network connection rather than the USB. About 15 minutes to install on the first PC and then 10 mins on each of the wireless networked PCs around my house) Print Quality: Very good (plain text is laserjet quality, whereas to get the best full colour images requires better grade paper like just about every inkjet printer) Running costs: Too early to say but genuine HP replacement print cartridges are cheaper than those for the old EPSON I was using All-in-all an excellent piece of hardware! Rating: - Works well with Windows VistaI needed to replace 2 trusty Epson printers as there were no Vista drivers for them. I wanted one network printer to do everyday and photo printing and this fits the bill very well. Installation was straightforward. Supplied documentation a bit thin but the on screen help has been fine so far. The supplied cartridge printed a bit green on my 6"x4" glossy photo paper but it may be better with the HP photo cartridge and a tweak of the preferences. Very impressed so far. Rating: - Highly RecommendedI bought this printer about 4-5 months ago and have to say I am really impressed with its performance. I use it every day and print off on average 8-10 pages of B&W and about 4-5 pages of colour per day so the ink cartridges have lasted well, having only needed to change them once since I bought it. The machine itself looks and feels robust and has the benefit of printing envelopes and A5(half size) paper too. The back comes off easily to remove jams and the machine is really fast compared to my last HP printer and fairly quiet too. One tip though - the printer came with an ethernet cable only but not a USB (A-B)one which I needed so I had to purchase this separately. I am delighted with this printer and can thoroughly recommend it! |
