Electronics : SanDisk Sansa e250 - 2GB MP3 Player - with Music & Video PlaybackRating: - The Nano's days are numberedI've had the e250 for a while but I broke it (the titanium casing is no match for dropping it then accidentally standing on it. oops.) But I thought it was so brill I've bought another one. Though I hate comparing things to the iPod I just feel that I have to. I didn't want an iPod because I didn't want to be tied into Apples DRM so I went for an MP3 player with "Play for sure" which the Sansa e250 is certified for. Also this is much better than the Nano in that it has a larger screen, feels more solid, and plays video! This was a big bonus for me as I make animation and this was quick and easy way to show them to friends and family, and I could also watch other videos if I'm bored with my music. The 2GB suited me fine and the expansion slot was another bonus so it's fairly cheap to get more space (I think a 2GB card is about £15 currently) Okay it doesn't come with the radio but hopefully it'll come in a firmware some time soon, anyway most other MP3 players don't have a radio either so it's not much of a loss. Easy to use, excellent feature, great price, updatable and plays video! Excellent purchase and much better than a Nano any day Rating: - Sandisk 2GB MP3 PlayerI have just purchased the Sandisk 2GB MP3 Player, and I am impressed by the player. I ordered one for my fiancee, and then decided to order a 2nd for myself. I love the fact you can connect the player straight to the PC without installing the software. If you need to Stnc the player with WP11, then download the latest firmware first from the Sandisk website. Otherwise it is a simple drag and drop. For installing photos or video, then you have to use the installation CD provided. The complaints about the volume i feel are unwarranted, as by using the thumbwheel control, you can increase the volume of the music, and i say have the volume on about 75%, as any louder i think it would start to hurt the ears. The titanium casing is fantastice, but i would recommend having a Glasses/Lens cloth, so from time to time you can give the front of the player a quick wipe from fingerprints. Downloading the music is very quick, i put on 30 albums in about 20 minutes, this depends at what bitrate you ripped your music. It will display the album art as well, which is good, and also it accpts wma, and can use a wide range of download sites, unlike the I-Pod where you are limited. The player also comes with a memory expansion slot, taking micro SD cards, which is useful if you want more music, but seriously with 30 albums on the player, they will last quite a long time, also you can easily remove them and put on other albums. Would i recommend the player........Definitely!!!!!!!!! Rating: - the next best thing to the IPOD !this mp3 player is one of my favorite(after the IPOD). It's got almost everything, more than 20hrs battery life(music) and upto 10hrs battery life(video). Sound quality is great and the provided headphones are comparable to that of the IPOD. The scrolling mechanism of sansa is better than that of the IPOd(yes), allows you to scroll through your tracks without much fuss. The voice recorder is great, I use it for my lectures and stuff. It works great with Windows Vista & XP, and works smoothly with Windows Media Player. The firmware is also upgradeable which I hope one day will add FM recording which is absent from the UK version(damn those patents). And it also plays videos, the converter software that comes with it converts most video formats and the video quality is admirable considering the size of the screen. It also displays picture files and you can do a slideshow of your pictures. Still waiting for Sandisk to bring out a 30GB version, then I can dump my IPOD once and 4 all(just kidding). Rating: - good but earphones averageI've owned this piece of equipment for a few weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. I upgraded the firmware straightaway which seemed to add a few extras. The battery life is excellent I love the thumb wheel and the blue l.e.d. It's reasonably quick to upload to and the supplied software is easy to use, although I use the drag and drop for music files. My only gripe is the quality of sound from the earphones which just can't handle bass notes adequately but overall for the money I'm very pleased with it. I do have a set of Bose earphones which when coupled with the sansa produce a fantastic sound. well worth the money, I also bought the silicone case to protect it . Rating: - Absolutely BrilliantI got this through today, and so far have been very pleased with it. The best thing about it is that nothing needs to be installed from the CD - there is a media converter, but this is not needed for general use. Hwn first inserted, Windows installs the hardwear, and it's off and away. Putting 1.5 Gb of music onto it took about 15 minutes (ish), which wasn't to arduous. And it arrived on half charge, and took a couple of hours to recharge to full. The player comes preloaded with music, photos and videos, although most of the music is nothing special. The photos are quite nice, as is the video, although it's short, and only shows a spaceshi landing. The headphones supplied are slightly uncomfortable, but the sound quality is suffiient for my needs. The user interface is simple to use, and very intuitive, although it does not (as far as I can tell) allow you to mix songs into a playlist, which would be nice. As mentioned, there is no FM tuner in europe. I am told that this is disabled on a firmwear level, so if you could get around it having the european firmwear installed, you might be able to re-enable this. The player looks nice, with a glossy black front. The back has a slight red tinge, which looks nice, although does not go with the blue theme of the screen and lit up scroll wheel. On small grudge though, when the scroll wheel is not lit up, it looks a bit tacky, but this is only a minor gripe All in all, for £[...], this is a good value mp3 (and wma) player, which works well, and is quick to get started with. |
