Electronics : Logitech Z-4 Speaker System 80w Black (2.1)Rating: - Fantastic full bodied soundThis is my first review for Amazon, and what better product than these brilliant PC speakers. I have to say that if I weren't so blown away by them, I wouldn't bother to write a review. I actually bought these in a shop as opposed to ordering them online. Some things worth noting. Firstly and foremost, the sound quality is fantastic. Excellent crystal clear treble, vibrant colourful mids and of course the low end bass is mind blowing. It actually sounds miles better than my Sony DAV-IS10 home cinema, which is a £400 unit!! In terms of loudness, as many other people have stated, it's more than enough to fill a pretty large room. I have my volume dial set at 33% and it's really loud in this quite small office type room. Someone else made a note of the satelite speakers being made of metal as opposed to plastic, and I think this is worth reiterating. These speakers are quite heavy: a sign of good components. The Sub is especially heavy and the 7 or 8 inch bass driver does its job getting those realy low frequencies. E.g: Pussy Cat Dolls - don't Cha. No distortion and no background hum or hiss. As I say, music is full bodied, rich in sound, the spatial separation is again excellent. Youtube videos suddently become alive instead of this little thing in the middle of the screen. It's amazing what sound can do. Overall, I rate them 5 stars. Excellent build quality, value for money and they sound like an expensive hi-fi, really. Rating: - Brilliant!I was looking for a desktop speaker set for my laptop and mp3 player. Seeing the ratings and reviews, I decided to go for this one and I must say you get really a good quality set of speakers for this value. Good design, I like the big remote control which grips the surface of your desk. I'm no sound expert but I can say the bass feels really clear and basically you enjoy what you're listening to on loud or less volumes clearly. I'm using this for my tiny room which is around 5*5 meter but I guess it also would do good in a large living room for a possible house party. Go for it! Rating: - CHHHEEEAAAPPP - VERY LOUD, DEEP BASSHmmmm the Z4, one of logitech's finest creations. I wanted a 2.1 for a while i just never got round to it, i shopped around and read tons of reviews, and all i can say is that the Z4 is amazing!!! The sound quality is clear, bass is deep - no interferance whatsoever. For the money that i paid i was surprised with how much quality i got, my friends heard it and were quite surprised by the kick it produces. I love the Z4 BUT, there always is a but i think in a few months i will get th Z2300, because as good as the Z4 is i want something more powerfull. However if you want a extremely good system to play your music on, watch a couple of movies - the Z4 takes the cake on this one and also it is cheap Rating: - Great value but slightly overratedI was looking for some speakers for my desk which could provide a richer sound and also fill the room when I'm not sat at the desk. I'd been recommended the Logitech x-230 speakers and heard them for myself. I'd also seen the scores of rave reviews for them here on Amazon but I wondered if there might be a later model which improves on that design. A review I found on the net said that the Z4 speakers were slightly better and more detailed than the x-230 so decided to check them out. I've always been prejudiced against 2.1 systems with little satellite speakers expecting them to always sound harsh but having read all the rave reviews on here I decided it was worth the gamble especially when I found them at a bargain price. But, my prejudices were proved valid. You can get a nice rich and deep bass, far deeper and thumpier than is reasonable but at least with the Z4 you can set the bass to zero if you so desire. However the upper middle frequencies are very strident and the lower middle frequences somewhat lacking, resulting in a very unbalanced sound. You get deep bass, harsh upper middle and not much inbetween. Fortunately I had a graphic equaliser which I was able to put between the audio source and the speakers, allowing me to tame the worst of the harshness and create a smoother richer sound, however you can never fully compensate for the limitations of the speakers. As you move around the room the upper middle frequencies are always slightly too strident even if you get it sounding just right sitting in one spot. I can't help but wonder why Logitech didn't include a bit of circuitry to compensate for the harshness of the frequency output but maybe that would have made them too expensive for the target market of the Z4. The controls and extra line in are very handy and they have a very nice build quality and take up very little space. So yes, they are loud with no distortion and will fill the room with sound but if you're expecting a genuine hi-fi sound or even a vague approximation of one then I don't recommend these speakers. I know they don't claim to be audiophile speakers but reading some of the reviews on here you might be fooled into thinking they are. Rating: - Huw's Review Logitech SpeakersI bought this a few months back as my tv had very poor sound quality. I thought i'd say that the product is superb, couldnt ask for any better. I don't even have the wheel turned to a quarter sound and it is easily loud enough for my needs. And when i did put it on full blast, i could easily hear it from outside with my double glazing windows closed. Fantastic. A must buy if your looking for a small(ish) set of speakers. |
