Electronics : Netgear DG834PN RangeMax MIMO-G Wireless ADSL Modem Router with 4-port 10/100 switchRating: - Easy as ABCI am a total novice regarding IT stuff, I had this connected set-up and running in 20mins. Thought is was going to be a nightmare but set up CD was brill. Kids well happy, strong signal and good connection speeds. Rating: - fault in this productI got this router as a replacement for its lower model Netgear 834 54mps because of a fault that occured. This fault was that whenever i unplugged the ADSL cable from the phone socket to change between phones the internet light would flash amber and not turn green i tried resetting the router many times but it would not work I changed the cable i still would not work. I then took it back to the shop and they gave me a replacement i took the replacement of this higher model and paid the difference for the 834 pn it worked fine for 3 months then The mains tripped and was cut off. I could not get it to work in just the same way so I took it back again and got a Belkin router they not as highly rated as netgear but at least dont have this problem. Many people have recommended netgear routers as the best, that is when they work but this looks like a fault that they still havent sorted out. I cannot take the risk of being without internet if there is a power cut. So if you are worried about this think about buying something else like Belkin or D-Link. Rating: - It's a piece of cake...Set up as per simple instructions. Connected to my ISP. Couldn't be easier... Rating: - Not bad, if you don't own an XBox 360Basically, if you order one of these and you own a 360, you're in for pain. I have to unplug my 360 when I'm not using it, as it interferes with this router. If you leave your router up and running for a couple of days, and leave your 360 on, the wireless side because unusable, with a high percentage of packet loss. Also, if you don't have a MIMO adpater for your PC, the signal strength is less than impressive. Think the DG834GT is probably a better option. Rating: - Useful paperweightI have had this router over a year and it is possibly the worst one I have ever had. The wireless signal is rendered useless by Bluetooth, such as a PS3 controller and a mobile headset. More susceptible to microwave interference, even when the microwave is in a different room. The ADSL modem doesn't get the best out of a line and required a reboot weekly. I have ditched this and got a different router and am now getting faster, more stable broadband and can use my PS3 without without wires. Netgear support was useless and ignored the issues I was having. |
