Electronics : Canon Lide 25 Colour Flatbed ScannerRating: - Good ValueI had to buy this to replace my Packard Bell 1200 Plus scanner as it was not compatable with Vista (sigh), and PB were not bothering to write new drivers. The canon is a lot noiser and slower than the Packard Bell, but it was very cheap and produces good results. I am quite happy with the Canon (but not Packard Bell). Rating: - Great replacement I bought this to replace a broken Canon D1250U2. As a previous user of a Canon flatbed scanner, I found the toolbox software just as good as the previous version, and this scanner operates much more quietly than my old one. Easy to install and works great with Vista. Price is an added bonus. Rating: - GREAT FOR THE PRICEI bought this scanner to make copies of pages of books for my own personal writing research. I find that once you get it going, it is not only quiet but scans very quickly. I firstly tried this on my Windows 98 SE system, and found that it didn't work, even though the box clearly states that it's compatible with that version of Windows. However, I tried plugging it into several USB ports at the back of my 98 system, and it still didn't work! However, once I tried it on my laptop (which is XP) I had no problems running it whatsoever. Like I said, it's great when it works. It comes with 1 yr manufacturer's guarantee. =Anli= Rating: - Great value for moneyFor the money, it's a great device. Works well with Vista and power over USB means less clutter. The image quality is much better than I was used to and the scanning speed is OK. OCR is an added bonus at this price and the toolbox software is acceptable. Loses a star for being horribly noisy. Rating: - too noisyThis is my first scanner. Is the noise normal or is it that my machine is broken??? |
