Electronics : TRUST SC-5500P 5.1 EXTERNAL SURROUND SOUND CARDRating: - dodgyi recieved my external surround card and from the start i experianced problems with it. it would randomly make the music or film play quickly and then go all crackly. when i contacted trust they didnt want to know. i would reccomend spending a little more on something more reliable. Rating: - Vista drivers and software poor! After four months of waiting for anticipated vista drivers to finally be made available only to find out that it only supports 'virtual' 5.1 surround sound. Very annoying if you are, like me, mixing music and need multiple outputs for headphone monitoring. Other than that middle of the road - Not bad for the price. Rating: - Simply worksI bought this item to enable recording from the radio onto my laptop, which lacks a line-in socket. Installation was quick and automatic, which isn't always the case with Vista, and it worked straight away. The instruction book isn't a lot of use, but it's all fairly intuitive anyway. Sound quality is fine to my ear, especially considering the FM source, and playback is OK with no pops or crackles as suffered by some previous reviewers. I bought with some hesitation, as the Trust item was considerably cheaper than the Creative equivalent, but so far no regrets. Rating: - Just the job.I bought one of these cards recently through Amazon and I was looking for something portable, cheap and handy. I got all three in one go. I was expecting to pay twice what I paid and I wasn't expecting to get 5.1 Surround Sound thrown in. As a musician and composer, I wanted something that I could use to plug my synth keyboard into my laptop and get down to some recording and this was just the job in that the sound quality is fine, the facilities give me everything I need to do the job and the card fits neatly into the laptop case. Humble muso, if you're looking for the kind of solution that I needed, this is the answer. It's just the job! Rating: - Fine...for a whileI bought this soundcard as I recently got a 5.1 surround sound system, and I have to say that I was pleased with this product at first. It was easy to install, and was setup quickly. However, after around 30-35 minutes of playing music or film through any media player, the audio or video speeds up and starts crackling through the speakers. The only way to solve this is to pause the media player, disconnect the sound card, then reconnect it and continue watching/listening. This gets pretty annoying if your watching a movie. Also, if left on pause for too long, even with the speakers turned off, the music/film will start playing at double speed and crackle through the speakers. If anyone knows why this is I'd really appreciate them letting me know! |
