Electronics : D-Link DUB-H4 - 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub (External)Rating: - Too much packaging / not clear it is poweredJust received this (ordered on tuesday morning arrived on wed morn with super saver - not bad!). A few remarks that I think need to be made: - Far too much packaging - I'm lucky I had it delivered to my place of work otherwise I would have to trek to the delivery office to pick up a 40 x 20 x 15cm size parcel. The router I bought had less cardboard around it, and that needed more 'protection' than this hub! I've noticed this being said in the reviews for a couple of electronics items - Amazon needs to have a look at this. - Not clear it is one of the powered hubs - I eventually chose this one after dredging through the expanded tech spec. A need-to-know point, especially if, like me, you need to charge items like cameras, iPods etc. - Dead simple to set up, only 4 steps in the manual (take out of box, plug in power and USb, turn on computer!). Nice long USB cable that looks quite sturdy. Rating: - stands out from the restAn impressive piece of equipment. Nice looking and does the job really well. It comes supplied with a mains supply which is needed if high drain power peripherals like USB hard drives are going to be used. A valuable extension to your Desk/Laptop if USB interface are in short supply. Rating: - PerfectionI've had this D-Link hub for some months now and am unable to fault it. If you are looking for a reliable USB Hub this is the one to buy! Rating: - Well made, works perfectly for Mac computers and Windows.....This USB hub comes with an external power supply so you can use it with your Ipod and mobile phone which all need a power source when connected. Non-powered Hubs would not be able to work with these. It works fine with my Mac on OSX and i'm sure it's fine with Window's P.C.'s as well. Rating: - Failure to connectAlthough this looked a nice bit of kit it wouldnt make a permanent connection and kept requiring that I reload it.It would flick in and out of connection.Possibly a fault in manufacture |
