Electronics : Linksys Compact USB 4-Port HubRating: - You get what you pay for!That this unit works straight out of the package with no problems on my XP programme computer in needing no new drivers or programmes; it effectively doubles many computers USB port availability and allows plug in and play of new USB connections without hassle, and is great value for money is beyond dispute. However be aware that while almost double the price of this item the comparable Targus Ultra Mini 4 Port Hub or other equivalents may be a better long term alternative if you want: 1. Better indications of full power up and port status (4 separate blue leds per each USB connection versus a hard to see single green for the hub here; 2. Better powering of more power hungry connections esp. MP3s and other high speed connections; 3. An extension lead which for desk top computers gives you much greater range and flexibility than the short lead here which will just let the hub clear the port connection (more marginal issue if you are laptop based). This is good value if you want the basics, but may be found wanting if any of the above criteria are important to you. Rating:  - Linksys Compact USB 4-Port HubBrilliant - it does exactly what it says on the box! Rating:  - Great value - does the job!This hub is a very inexpensive way of getting over the "too many peripherals" problem! I use a laptop with plenty of accessories and was forever having to swap things around, but with the hub I can now have my printer, webcam, ADSL modem and digi camera lead all plugged in at once. The only thing it struggled with was my mouse, which didn't operate fluently through the hub - so the mouse now takes up one USB point and the hub the other. All in all, a very good value USB hub - I can certainly recommend it for laptop users! Rating: - So far so goodI got this today and installed it straight away on my laptop with no problems. I plugged in my all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, my adsl modem, and my logitech mx501 8-button mouse. Everything works fine there have been no problems with my broadband connection being dropped when I'm using the printer even in during definition scanning. The only problem that I had was when connecting my joypad while the adsl modem was connected. There was some conflicts that prevented the controls from working properly while both were connected at the same time. However, this was easily resolved by using the laptop's other free usb port. As a further test, I also plugged in a 64mb usb drive and had no problems writing/reading while both the printer and modem were running. Overall, this is a great little device for expanding your computer's connectivity. However, I still had to manually stop my modem before disconnecting it. So much for being hot swappable. I would recommend this product as its good value and does a good job. Rating: - 4 Port USB HubI am really pleased with my hub... I can at last install my new pet mouse !
