Electronics : Psion Revo Plus 16MBRating: - If only I had one!Although I do not personally own one of these marvellous machines, I was given one to test for a month and it was superb! It not only has the speed of a 5mx, but also has many of the same applications. So why splash out the extra money when the Revo 8mb/16mb provides it at a cheaper cost! All thats needed now is for me to get one! Hopefully very soon. Buy it, its worth it. PS. Would anyone like to buy me one?! Rating: - More useful than a Swiss Army KnifeI've been using a Revo for about a year now. I have been a Psion user for years owning a 3A and a Series 5 before this. The model I own is only an 8mb version, but I plan to upgrade before they are gone forever. Once you've bought this you will never look back, it can be used in all sorts of situations for everything you could ever think of. I'm a high school student and get most of my PDA's second hand off my Dad, but since he switched to the inferior Palms I'm on my own. I use this for everthing, from drawing graphs of my science results to writing english essays to entertaining myself in a space moment. Another great, but overlooked feature is the IRDA interface which allows you to type SMS messages with the keyboard and then send them through your phone, a lot easier process than dealing with T9 etc. The two gripes people have with it are, the keyboard is too small and that there is no backlight. On the subject of the keyboard while it takes some getting used to (The keys have no real give), I was quickly back up to a decent rate of about 60wpm (On a fullsized its 75wpm). Also the lack of a backlight is a problem (I miss it from the Series 5) but you will find the Revo works in very low light conditions very well but not in pitch black. The Revo uses the same screen techonology as the Palm 5 and if you've used that you'll know the Backlight isn't much cop anyway. I'd much rather have a smaller unit than a backlight. My only gripe is that it doesn't have as many 3rd party apps as Palm, but who cares when it comes with a full office sweet and numerous clever tools. Programming it is also very simple and anyone that can manage Basic can program a Psion with ease. I've made a statistics calculator for my maths course. Anyway, buy this before its too late because Psion aren't making them anymore. What you waiting for?! Rating: - Your Life in One MachineI have found this machine too useful. When I lost my phone (Nokia 8210), it put all my numbers back in the replacement with ease. It keeps all my contact details easily in my pocket which is useful when you are travelling and don't want to open up the laptop. Using a mobile you can surf the net or send e-mails, or type SMS messages rather than doing it straight into the phone. Only 4 stars because there is no backlight and the battery runs out too quickly for my liking! Rating: - PSION REVO PLUSThis is brilliant - it serves my exact purpose of a mini lap top and data transfers easily. Cascade is getting rather frustrating though! The only reson I didn't give it 5 stars is because the battery seems to drain quickly - maybe because I use it so much!!! Rating: - Revo - by light onlyThe REVO Plus is - and now a "was", my first PDA. Like many of the previous write ups you'll have read, the REVO is pretty much an excellent companion with many great easy to use operational features. However, who ever decided to launch the product without some sort of back light, needs thier head read. Come the end, no light meant no REVO - a crying shame! |
