Electronics : Psion Series 5MX 16MBRating: - Brilliant, but ...I have been a psion user for over 10 years and the product has been out of this world. I now own the PSION 5mx. Again a brilliant product with its connectivity to PC computers allowing syncronisation between handheld and desktop it is a valuable mobile aide. Downfall, will not work with Macintosh platform, no reason why it shouldn't, but there you go! PSION beware pay heed!! Otherwise a fantastic scheduler, emailer and inforamtion data base. Good range of software available, Shame NO colour screen. Rating: - Super trooperThe only bad thing about the Psion is the screen - I like to use the backlight, but that drains power. Hence I often use it with a mains adapter or car cigarette lighter lead. All my other thoughts are positive. I wouldn't be without it. Working in PR, carrying the 5MX means I'm never off line for customers, ie media outlets or clients. I can and do type press releases on the fantastic keyboard. When they are done, I can either e mail out or use the fax, providing I've got mobile reception. I once thought Psion owners were a bunch of yuppies. I was wrong. The machine has lots of features and a stable software suite. But like so much modern technology, you only use a fraction of its potential. As a working tool, the Psion is unsuppased, hence it scores five. Rating: - rockit in your pockit (works with imacs)Had my 5MX for a couple of years - I gave up using it because the Mac connectivity software is poor, and Virgin sent me two Motorola phones which didn't work with it. But now I have an iMac and I can use a compactflash card reader with it and download all the software I need from the Net -- it goes straight onto the card from the iMac desktop. Groovy. There's also a stack of software on the net for the 5MX now, plus it works well with my pop3 mail and a Nokia 8210. If you order one get a compact flash card for it, plus a card reader. -it sure beats fighting with cables for backup and synching. And if you have a nokia phone there's a fine phone manager for it for the Psion plus a stack of other useful stuff. And yes, like the other reviewer here - my Palm is in the back of a deep dark cupboard now. Low prices on this machine and cheap compact flash cards make it a great buy - especially if you need a keyboard - even if you have an iMac. Rating: - No one does it betterI work as a rep, and I just upgraded to a 5mx from a Psion series 3C. What can I say I just love it. It is very easy to use, fast and has piles of memory. I looked at the competition (glorified adress books) but they just can'nt do what my Psion does. It takes a lot of the slog out of work, and connecting to my PC was really easy. Rating: - Flawed brillianceI've used my 5MX for two years and been totally reliant on it, to far too great a degree! While I haven't used it to its full potential, it's more than satisfied my every need - until now. Being a Mac user I've never managed to connect the two and back-up all the info. A shame, as the Psion finally bought the farm the other day and everything I'd input - contacts, diary entries etc - has been lost. I now use paper and pen. |
