My wife bought this scanner and set it up for her laptop with its Windows XP install and the XP install of our desktop. My wife is studying for a PhD in Art History and she needed a scanner that could
1) scan high quality productions from art books so that she could create reproductions for assignments, and
2) create multi-page high quality documents from scanned images and text pages with associated OCR.

An excellent product easy to install, and actually does film negatives and 35mm colour slides excellent, would recommend this scanner to anyone.

I odered this as a Christmas present for my son, age 17. It arrived with the cover hinge broken, and I'm not at all surprised having inspected it!!! The hinge consists of 2 lugs that fit into slots on the body of the scanner. These lugs are a composite part of the lid. Each one measures 2-3mm x 1-2mm. If even one of the lugs is broken the lid is separate from the body. There is absolutely no chance of repair - the lugs are far too small to tolerate the stresses of repeated use.

Bought primarily for copying slides that are starting to deteriorate, I was basically after retaining what images I had, but I was amazed at the sheer quality of the scanned images. The online instructions are very easy to follow and copying time is very quick. One great advantage is not requiring a power cable - all the power this machine needs is supplied via the USB lead. The only drawback in my opinion is the lack of a slide holder - films need to be removed from mounts which is a real pain when the ... Read More
