![]() Rating: - From strength to strength....Another step forward in the new folk revival and the creation and expansion of a more hybrid folk fusion sound that remains all their own. It's fantastic in its scope, but still you can see the opportunity for even greater things to come. Bodens' vision is mind boggling in the simplicity of its component parts, but the creation is complex and immensely satisfying at the same time. These songs are even better live! Rating: - Heady stuff!I just want to say that this made me feel excited in the way that listening to 'Morris On' and 'Son of Morris On' did when they first came out - must have been early in my folk listening career but I still remember how it felt. Not surprising with the family connections I suppose - Kirpatrick etc, but I felt rejunevated!!! Ah my lost youth... Rating: - A rompingly good albumFirstly ,it's worth paying an extra couple of quid for this edition of the album,some really nice photos and nicely put togethor. In some ways this is more of the same but different,it has a stronger emphasis on the more archaic sound that Bellowhead manage to drag out of their instruments. Folky? Well the first track 'Fakenham Fair' is unarguably folky, but after that,well decidedly english is all I can call it really.There are at times an almost comic cabaret-esque, jazzy feel to some of ... Read More Rating: - Lovely but less bounce per ounce....I love Bellowhead in a slightly unhealthy, groupie-like way - because they are not what I think of as traditional folk, but an altogether bouncier and more inspirational form of music (meaning no offence to die-hard folkies). The band themselves, of course, are knee-deep in the knowledge and tradition of British Folk - and it shows more clearly on this album than on Burlesque.
