![]() Rating: - Good while it lastedBought this item from another vendor back in January. It set up fine - I've used it in both USB and LAN modes without issue. I even set it up to work on the internet for a while feeding webcam images out onto the net. Generally it did what it claimed. Plus points. 1 - Quiet 2 - Works on USB and NAS with little problems Couple of issue though. 1 - Not the fastest transfer rates as it's not Gigabit LAN 2 - runs very hot when ... Read More Rating: - Good price and easy to useI will admit,I did not actually buy this from Amazon, but from Freecom direct (similar price) Being a novice in networking,I wanted something relatively cheap and easy to use. The unit is very stylish and compact,I found mine however slightly noisy, just a slight hum from the dsic which is being transmitted through the little rubber feet it has (I will have to put something under it to stop it ? I know it sounds petty but when it is sitting on my desk there is this constant hum !!!!.) Read More Rating: - looks cool, runs hotThis drive runs very hot and has a lot of other problems too. It is quite limited by the necessity of FAT32, which to be honest is Microsoft's fault for not supporting other disk formats or publishing ntfs. I would recommend a Buffalo Linkstation, and if you really want a fanless option, a Linkstation Mini. Rating: - Connection keeps on dropping outAll was well at first, then after a day or two the connection started to drop out. It started as an occasional thing then it got more frequent, until now, several weeks after purchase, it drops out many times a day and is therefore practically unusable. The same thing happens no matter which PC is used to access the device. To rescue our data I connected the drive up to a PC using the Freecom's USB connection. It didn't work. All that happened was that it caused the PC to reboot! This was tried 3 times ... Read More Rating: - Mac users and alike.I have a MAC Notebook. I read all the reviews on this item and thought why not it's entry level and enough space for me. The NAS Drive was picked up straight away by my Mac. The WEB based interface is good and easy to use. However heres the bad news, through extensive searching the forums I have come to the conclusion that MAC does not support NAS. I tried for 4 days solid and nearly a devorce to try and connect the drive to Mac Airport and Time Machine. There is a command you can type into Terminal to ...
