 Rating:  - Originally great...then random failure!!I bought this product just under a year ago, and had a similar problem to the review below. It was working fine, doing what it was meant to, but then it just stopped working one day. It was not being recognised by any computers, Vista or XP. It would not let me reformat it. I'm actually so angry because I thought this would be the safest way to back up files and put my music on to save space on my computer, but now I've lost over 60GB of music! Rating: - Piece of junkBought one of these about 6 months ago, they cost more than 100 Euro [80 pound] then. I used it exclusively as a back-up. Yesterday it died. I didn't even have the time to use the entire space. I own 8 iPods and they are all still alive so I guess I'm not a moron in the field of pc related products. Of course the most annoying thing is the hasle that such an event provokes, but the waist of money isn't a mood elevator too, certainly. Don't buy. Unable to access it! in any way, I went looking for a solution. On your Home page, type in computer does not recognise external drive. You will be taken to a number of options. Rating: - NOT realy 500GB, otherwise OKThis is NOT 500GB and it has nothing to do with conversion bits to bytes (1 byte 8 bits, therefore 1 kb= 1024 bytes) This hard drive has ONLY 465GB.
