 Rating:  - Excellent entry level satnavThis is my second Garmin satnav. The Nuvi 270 performs very well around Ireland, with excellent satellite tracking. The tinny voice is a bit annoying but that's the price for such a neat & portable unit. It has a simulation mode for planning your journeys abroad, and it is excellent at handling Points of Interest (POI) files. I plumped for this model on the basis that I was given a Garmin (older Model) with my hire car and it faultlessly navigated me around New England. I have just returned from a second trip and this model performed perfectly. The only time I had cause to sweat was going through the tunnels in Boston but this little gem just re-calculated as soon as it could receive the signal. I would recommend that you buy this model over the lower priced units ... Read More Rating: - Goodbye road atlas, hello sat nav.This is the first sat nav I have used and I am very pleased it. To set up straight out of the box was very quick once I had charged the batteries. Initial charge was a slow process (overnight) but once this was completed the unit found the satelights in around 30 seconds and that was inside my kitchen near the window. It told me where I was instantly. I have only had probleminding the satelights once and simply moving the unit across my dashboard from the side to the middle solved this ... Then I saw the 270 advertised with USA mapping preloaded as well..the only problem was the price. Amazon.co uk launched an offer and I took the plunge. The Nuvi 270 sems a remarkable piece of kit in that it has all the maps preloaded (I did not want to bother having to down-load maps every time I went to Europe or the USA).
