![]() Rating: - Nowhere near the other reviews depictThis is definitely a good scanner, no question, its got alright quality and is quite cheap for a scanner. But it had some drawbacks. - difficult to keep clean - too long, not wide enough - unnecessary buttons - short cables - can glitch (making a non-stop irritating, high pitch scream) But of course, if you can overlook these small problems its fine, quick scanning, light weight and has a decent adjuster for the lid (to scan books and larger items) A general ... I am really pleased with the performance of the scanner in the following ways: 1. It works with Photoshop on my old Mac 2. Speed is OK - about 8 minutes to scan 4 slides at 2400 dpi 3. The buttons on the front of the scanner do quick scans in pdf format (photos, written documents etc)and scanned documents can be linked directly to email or a printer to get a copy. The software allows you to scan images in as jpeg files (better quality images but a bit slower to do). I've used this to copy dozens of mounted slides ... On scaning negatives there is a vertical blue line about 1/4" from the edge af the scanned image. On contacting Canon I was told it was probably a faulty LED and should send it back for replacement. As I do not use it for negative scanning much and this was just a bonus I can't be bothered. Rating: - Super little machine!I was forced to buy a new scanner due to Epson not providing a driver for my old one now that I've got a new PC. It was hardly used and in perfect working order - a shameful waste. However, every cloud has a silver lining! What a little cracker the Canoscan 4400F is. Very easy to set up and simple to use. No 1" thick manual to wade through (as with my Epson model and I never did understand how to use it properly!) only an 8 page easy start guide. Just remember to take the mains cable out of the box before ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
