That's a slight weakness of MrRat's script I'm afraid.
If you browse around his demo site
http://www.mrrat.com/cgi-bin/apf4/amazon_products_feed.cgiYou will find that it is pretty much the same deal:
http://www.mrrat.com/cgi-bin/apf4/amazon_products_feed.cgi?Operation=ItemLookup&ItemId=0545010225There are a few workarounds - you may notice that some of my sites offer additional links. For example the store on my main site has these two additional navigational aides:
http://www.deanmarshall.co.uk/store/The blocks at the top link to:
The current locale's (country's) homepage
The current product categories frontpage (books/dvd/etc)
From a product page back to the listings (actually the last page) (MrRat's script has that option somewhere - look in the template variables).
The 'toolbar' of blue images also create links to each SearchIndex (product category) within the current locale(country).
If you browse around that store you will also notice that when you browse to a product the breadcrumb is often still maintained back to the categories and subcategories of that product.
ALL of these navigational aides are courtesy of various of my MOD files - plug-ins for the APF script itself. Note none of this will help with the Joomla pathway - but would/could/should provide a shopper with additional navigational options rather than leading them into a dead end.
Also note: in a month or so I hope to have a very very special announcement regarding MrRat's APF and some interesting developments. But shhh! mum's the word for now.
Just going back to my mod files - I am going to create an on-line store sometime soon to assist with distribution of these Mod files. At present they are not well publicised and I distribute them manually after an order - which can be a little 'random'.
