APF Bridge Demo And Development Site

Hi Dean,

I'm using your plugin and try to find a way to display only the picture (with a link) of a product. Possible? I'm not sure how to use templates ...

Certainly it is possible.
Firstly create a new template set - within MrRat's APF script's /templates/ folder create a folder called /templates/test/ (for example).

Now within here create your own version of the specific template you need to 'override' for example item.template

The specific template variables available to you are listed in a /docs/ folder within your APF download (from MrRat's script not my bridge). Or you can copy across the item.template file from the /default/ template set as a starting point.

Now when you call the plugin be sure to specify you 'new' template set.

I'm typing all of this from memory - that is why I am being vague - if this isn't enough of a pointer then just shout, I reallyshould write up more of this stuff anyway.

I followed your instructions. I've created a folder in the templates folder called itempic and copied the templates. Then I changed the item-template to

and then I put into my code the following line (sure with the right brackets ...):

but the're always all the complete item informations. It looks for me as there is another template which is used to display the item. The're also some english phrases but 'I'm using german.

I'm just looking over the documentation - I am sure I have documented this previously but on a quick look I don't see where - I hate it when that happens.

The 'Templates' variable specifies a template set - assuming you are not using the template set specified in the Plugin's configuration screen.

The 'LinkTemplates' variable controls what you see after clicking though links produced by the plugin - for example showing 'normal' APF Store pages if someone clicks through.

Just had a thought - maybe I detailed some of this on the 'Plugin Examples pages' available in the main menu on the left.

wow, it is case sensitive ... ! I didn't expect that, but it is a difference to write "Templates" or "templates" ....

I've seacherd now for hours but there is still a rest besides the picture. I have the title, I have a search box,I have these colour bars - and absolutely no idea where this stuff is from.

The're three possibilities:

- apf_main.pm
- amazon_products_feed.cgi

and the default item-template.

But I changed something in each of these files and reloaded the page - but couldn't localize this stuff ...

OK Dean,

found the solution ... I thought.

At first it was a cache problem. All queries are cached and the output therefore was the same despite my changes. I would like to stop caching but found no way. Set the duration to zero didn't work.

The stranges stuff was from the page-template which is used also to display an item.

So I changed it that there is only the variable left

After some hours I'm now able to display only the picture. But, there's always the "but", when you click on that picture you get only the picture and not the whole product informations ...

Any Ideas?

I think, I did it.

You have to replace

Code:

%%my_large_image_url%%

with

Code:

%%item_url%%

And now - wooow - you will be redirected to the item page.

Maybe you write a little tutorial or put it in your examples because other people like to use this. It is nice because you get pretty pictures in your text from the cd covers which are leading to your amazon shop.
