Localhost version of APF Bridge? 2007/05/05 05:54
The APF Bridge configuration asks for both URL to APF and path to APF. Whilst the latter is relative, the former is absolute. Is it possible to specifying something in the former that will work without having to hardcode the full URL, e.g. using $mosConfig_live_site? This is necessary to allow an offline version for testing, and is also helpful if changing site and copying config.

If not possible, can I ask that this be added as a future enhancement?

Cheers

Hi Mike,

I've spent quite a bit of time thinking about this. I have decided that at some point in the future I will indeed lock the APF Bridge so as to only be able to retrieve output from a copy of APF on the same domain. At that point I will be able to remove the domain part of the url.

I don't think I can tie it to $mosConfig_live_site though - because some people will install Joomla into /joomla/ (or another subfolder) and APF into /cgi-bin/ for example. Obviously /cgi-bin/ is not then a subfolder under the /joomla/ directory.

I *think* that an url without the domain - hence relative to the root of the domain - and therefore identical to the path will work in many instances - but mileage will vary due to server setup.

I realise that the current setup 'kills' a site when you move the site - due to bad urls / paths - but the backend continues to function so it is relatively easy (though not ideal) to reconfigure.

Hi Dean

Thanks, point taken about the location of joomla and APF.

I hope the future is not too distant

Cheers
