Amazon.co.uk Review:
You know you're going to get a different kind of superhero when you cast Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role. And Iron Man is different, in welcome ways. Cleverly updated from Marvel Comics' longstanding series, Iron Man puts billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (that's Downey) in the path of some Middle Eastern terrorists; in a brilliantly paced section, Stark invents an indestructible suit that allows him to escape. If the rest of the movie never quite hits that precise rhythm again, it nevertheless offers plenty of pleasure, as the renewed Stark swears off his past as a weapons manufacturer, develops his new Iron Man suit, and puzzles both his business partner (Jeff Bridges in great form) and executive assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow). Director Jon Favreau geeks out in fun ways with the hardware, but never lets it overpower the movie, and there's always a goofy one-liner or a slapstick pratfall around to break the tension. As for Downey, he doesn't get to jitterbug around too much in his improv way, but he brings enough of his unpredictable personality to keep the thing fresh. And listen up, hardcore Marvel mavens: even if you know the Stan Lee cameo is coming, you won't be able to guess it until it's on the screen. It all builds to a splendid final scene, with a concluding line delivery by Downey that just feels absolutely right. --Robert Horton

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Roll on BananaMan...
It seems no summer can pass anymore without a superhero movie coming out, be it SuperMan, BatMan, SpiderMan, IceMan, the combined X-Men and now it's IronMan...surely they're running out of powers these `Men' can have? I shudder to think what's in store for us next; PlasticMan, CopperMan, Mobilephone Man who knows? I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the release of BananaMan!
Anyway, this one is actually really good, it's not as slapstick as X-Men or Spiderman and although it's got its ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What is this?
I thought Iron Man was horrible. As a fan of superheroes such as Batman, Superman and Spider-Man, I was actually looking forward to watching this film. When I saw it, it couldn't have been worse. The first half an hour was good, but towards the film went way over the top with stupid machines that puts on his suit, a ridiculous plot and altogether it was a horribly executed film. If there was 0 stars, I would give it to this.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I don't like iron man for a few reasons...
People said Iron Man is brillent, now I not a big Iron Man fan so I waited for the DVD to come out in late 2008. I leaved at the 26 minute of the film. This was appluing and the worst comic book ever, in fact the worst film ever I have three reasons why I hated it.

Reason 1:
SPOLIER(DON'T NOT READ IF YOU HAVN'T WATCHED IT)
So the start how Iron Man became Iron Man was a explosien. Of course he didn't know it. Not the best ending and that stunt was big but not BANG. So the ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Who'd have thought it?
When I heard Robert Downey Jr had been cast as Iron Man I was intrigued. And I have to say he really pulls it off giving us one of the most refreshingly original takes on a 'superhero' yet. He has such an abundance of charisma on screen and he really looked to have buffed up for the role. He manages to embody geek, playboy, morally ambiguous businessman, action man and philanthropist in the right quantities. I also liked the political message of the film as it weaves in the war in Afghanistan, ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great film
The latest jaunt from the Marvel universe is certainly a well built affair. It features a good combination of action and yakking and contains some very strong performances - not least from it's leads, Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. The script is a step above the norm with a central character that does not suffer from a case of the `overly righteous' bug that seems to infect these people. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Iron Man is definitely one of the better Marvel efforts (i.e. a ... Read More
