Amazon.co.uk Review:
In retrospect, it's hard to see how Oasis could have possibly equalled the hype surrounding the release of this, their third album. Arriving as their popularity was at its peak, it's a confusing, faintly self-indulgent collection. The first single, the wryly-titled "D'You Know What I Mean?", had a monolithic sort of grandeur, taking Noel Gallagher's fondness for overdubbed, wall-of-sound guitars to some new peak, but also seemed a little over-extended--as did its follow-up, "All Around The World", a slab of Beatles-esque, sing-along pop that seemed to last longer than the entire White Album. Then again, it made a kind of sense: nothing if not mindful of rock tradition, Oasis's quest to be the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band meant that they were obliged--like the Stones before them--to make their own mid-1970s album (albeit, two decades too late). And from its Caribbean origins, to its raucous, bloated, "cocained-out" sound, this is it: a triumph of arrogance over ambition. Maybe next time they'll go punk. --Andrew McGuire

- Sounds even better 11yrs on!When this album was relesed in 97, all i listened to was Oasis and i was expecting this album to be even better than morning glory..however..back then i was bitterly dissapointed with it, as it didnt live up to my expectations.
But 11 yrs on and after hearing the new stuff that oasis has brought out..this album is a classic! i still remember all the words after all this time..whereas no other oasis album since has had that impact on me. This is also the album that gave us 'Stand By Me' ... Read More

- The dogs nuts!!!!To those that put this album down. Your talking out of your backside!! This is an excellent album along with all the others that this talented band put out. Progression and everchanging are the words to discribe this band and what a good job they do. If they didn't they wouldn't be where they are today. Keep up the good work. Long live the sound of Oasis.

- Somewhat hit and missBe Here Now is famously overproduced- there is allegedly 100 guitar tracks on My Big Mouth- and at times is somewhat underwritten- The Girl In The Dirty Shirt & It's Gettin' Better,Man!!! in particular are awful. However there are a lot more good moments then some say- the opener D'You Know What I Mean? is a swampy epic, somewhat similar in style to the better tracks on The Stone Roses' Second Coming. Stand By Me is one of Noel Gallagher's greatest songs. Although I suspect I might by one of the ... Read More

- Absolutely Brilliant!!This album is not for those who were expecting a similar album to Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe, although those first to albums were similar. This album sets itself apart from the others with excellent guitar solo's and imaginative lyrics. With out this album Oasis would have continued to make albums such as Morning Glory and be accused of a 'one sound band' which this album and the preceding album Standing On The Shoulder of Giants definitely prove. This album is for those people who have been ... Read More

- NOEL'S FOLLY: dissection of OASIS' disastrous outing.1997: OASIS are on the cusp of true greatness, and nobody knows this more than our NOEL: second album 'GLORY' was a rollocking, fully-fleshed classic platter that quite rightly took off with the general public, selling massive quantities: a critical, commercial success that fitted the bill nicely as a soundtrack of 90s counter-consumerism.
Many punters eagerly awaited the follow-up, and NOEL endevoured to give the punters exactly what they wanted: however, the group's success in ... Read More
